Why is AC/DC so incredibly popular? Their new album 'Black Ice' is debuting at #1 in countless countries around the world... in the US alone their first week sales seem destined to be around 800,000+!
That after they've been absent from the scene for a good 8 years! Their back catalogue KEEPS SELLING like possibly no other band in the world. Their biggest album, 1980's 'Back In Black' stands at international sales of 42 million (22 million in the US alone - making it the 2nd biggest album in the US ever)!
I have a theory: there's something really ADDICTIVE about their sound. It's distinctive. When you think about it - no one else sounds like AC/DC... and they don't bother with "trends" or things like that. They just play their rock 'n roll...
What drew me to them first, was the powerful feeling they create with their guitars... the distinctive riffs. Though I don't really care for Brian Johnson's vocals, it doesn't offend me either.
To me, their new album 'Black Ice' is certainly not their best, though it sounds so good it's hard to not like it as well.
They're not reinventing anything, they're just doing what only AC/DC can do... playing rock 'n roll like no one else is! (My only criticism is that at 15 tracks the album is too long... if they'd kept only the 10 best tracks, it would have been better).
I'm addicted, and I'm clearly not the only one...!

...As I was saying... no one's back catalogue sells like theirs...
On Billboard's Top 100 Comprehensive Album Chart this week, AC/DC appears in the following positions: 'Black Ice' at #1 of course, 'Back In Black' at #13, 'High Voltage' at #51, 'Highway To Hell' at #57, 'Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap' at #59 and 'Live' at #69...
Their back catalogue sold an additional 92,000 copies this week...!
