This past week of course saw the new surprise #1 'Just Dance' by newcomer LADY GAGA... and what a fantastic song!

So who is she? Well, she's described as an "urban dance musician"... she's already an established songwriter - having written hits for Pussycat Dolls and the like... and she's now doing it for the first time as a lead vocalist as well!

Her name was inspired by Queen's 'Radio Ga-Ga', and her own music is a combination of Blondie meets Madonna meets Christina Aguillera meets Gwen Stefani... meets Scissor Sisters!
The songwriting is definitely there - and I'm looking forward to her first album 'The Fame' which will be released soon!

(On a sidenote: recently we've had a new record with the slew of "one week #1's" here on Blue-Box - when Cyndi Lauper's 'Into The Nightlife' became the EIGHTH "one week #1" in a row... if Lady GaGa doesn't stay at #1 in the coming week that run will be extended to 9 weeks, unless she stops it by spending a 2nd week @ #1...)

Wow! Quite a combination of top artists rolled into one attractive package! No selling needed - it sells itself. Just by looking at this photo , i thought it was Madonna. Looking forward to hearing this.

And... it's been stopped! As Lady GaGa's set to spend a 2nd week at #1 this week (with quite a big lead over the competition!), and becomes the first artist to spend more than a single week at the top in over 2 months (the last time was when Madonna spent 4 weeks there with '4 Minutes'). So the record stands at 8 weeks for 1 week #1's.

This song and album SO deserves a post...! COLDPLAY's new album 'Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends' is quite brilliant! And one of the lead singles - 'Viva La Vida' - In my opinion is one of their best so far (if not THE best)... after recently topping the Blue-Box chart, I was delighted to see this ("musical masterpiece", dare I say?) become not only the new US but also the new UK Number One single this past week... well deserved... Yay!! (I'm not even gonna mention that I LOVE the album's cover art... oops - too late!)

Yes Yes Yes! Brilliance in the Making! Dare i say 50 years from now , together with The Beatles & other Legends up there in the Hall of fame...? Love the Irish sounds blended together with their own self-styled Rock sounds. And the Guitar play sends thrills down my spine! - especially in the song "42". I expected something BIG after X&Y - but not this big. Well deserved 1'st & 2nd place on the charts this week. Rohan , can I go as far as saying this album will do as well on the Blue as " Release" from the Pet Shop Boys did...and that we can classify you as a Coldplay Fan now?

Ha ha - slow down Sherlock! Mmm... yes, 'Release' did amazing things for PSB on the Blue, but only time will tell if 'VLVODAAHF' can do the same for Coldplay...
It IS a brilliant album, but not sure if I would call myself a FAN yet... for two reasons:
1) Not sure how often I'm gonna be in the MOOD to listen to their album... (as I said - time will tell), and
2) I STILL DON'T GET 'Yellow'!!!! Ha ha

Lol! Just glad you've "found" this album.... Or shall I say, the new Coldplay album has found you.. It's so easy to miss out on something , especially when it doesn't fall 100% within one's taste or frame work, of what we like or regard as good or quality. I guess this is true in all areas of our lives. All i can say is - welcome 2 da Coldplay Club-good things come 2 those who wait.

I like 'Lost' too... it has a GREAT guitar solo! I think this album has SEVERAL potential singles. My current favourite... 'Cemeteries Of London'!

I love their humour:

"Coldplay star Chris Martin is convinced "handsome" bandmate Guy Berryman is solely responsible for the band's success - because girls and gay fans love him.

Martin admits that while he and his other bandmates desperately try to "stay thin" and look good, the bass player oozes charm and cool.

He tells Blender magazine, "My entire life is spent trying to push him forward at photo shoots. He's our packaging... He's a handsome bastard.

"None of us pretend that if he wasn't in the band we'd be as popular. He's responsible for all our calendar sales."

Isn't the single cover of MADONNA's latest - 'Give It 2 Me' - really nice? I love it!

Speaking of which, I really love the remixes of this song so far... (with the exception of the Paul Oakenfold remix). ESPECIALLY the JODY DEN BROEDER remix... this is... WOW!!
I usually prefer remixes which stick more to the original structure of the song (full verse, bridge, chorus), and while this one is somewhere between that, and leaving out parts in the chorus - where it just repeats 'Give it to me'... THIS WORKS! And IT'S FRESH!

Jody does something amazing with synths in the middle of the song that sounds really, really good... the whole thing just makes you want to get out to a club and DANCE! (a sign of a great remix imo!)

While I rarely take on the topic of "remixers", let me just carry on a bit... as lately I'm quite impressed with remixes again.

Another current champion for me is Jason Nevins... I think his mix of LEONA's 'Bleeding Love' is one of the best I've ever heard!

I generally don't like Soul Seekerz's remixes, but I ADORE their new remix of CYNDI's 'Into The Nightlife'... WOW!

I'm also enjoying the Solitaire remix of DONNA SUMMER's 'I'm A Fire'... so nice!

So, If I were Madonna... and I would typically be looking for the next "hottest producer in the business", I think teaming up with Jody Den Broeder for my next album would create a really fresh and different sound... just the thing to catapult me to #1 once again...!

OMG - how GREAT is this song??!!
CYNDI LAUPER's new single 'Into The Nightlife' could well be the dance song of the year... (certainly the best dance song since... 'Don't Stop The Music'?) And I just LOVE the video!!

The only reason this song hasn't been at #1 on our Chart since its first appearance, is because the other songs above it are SO FREAKING GOOD!!

Some of my favourite "quotes" from this song:
"Fortune cookie says I'm right..."
"Shake your body Mister, gonna make your body blister..."
and:
"Shirtless wonders wreck my sight - under the light..."
Hehe...

Unfortunately the embedding of the Youtube video of this song has been "disabled by request", which we respect, but DO check out this link then... YOU'LL BE SO GLAD YOU DID!!!
Yay!

Yes, it's a GREAT song and I love it to bits, BUT...

...the honor of "Best Dance Song of the Moment" will HAVE to go to this little gem. Words cannot describe how much I love it .
(AMAZINGNESS alert!):

Kinda disturbing going around and hearing all these gay guys singing "I kissed a girl and I liked it!" LOL!
