They were quite a phenomenon on the Blue-Box charts last year... and now they're back! South Africa's FRESHLYGROUND have just released their brand new album "Ma'Cheri", and here is the wonderfully colourful video for the first single "Pot Belly"!

I must admit that after seeing BRITNEY's recent sluggish performance at that Awards Show, I WANTED to not like her latest song 'Gimme More'... but truth is - I love it! And can't get it out of my head!

It IS one song I didn't expect people would want to cover though, and expecially not in acoustic form! So I was surprised to find SO MANY people doing their "acoustic" versions of it on Youtube... and many of them doing such a fine job!
These twins' version is one of them - not bad!

'Sluggish' you say? I think the correct word is ABYSMAL!
And it really is amazing just how much musical tastes can differ: I really WANT to like this song, but alas... everytime I hear it, I realise more and more what a pile... it is!
As for the twins: They're no Jonas Brothers, but they will be VERY doable in a couple of years!

As you say - I guess it's one of the mysteries of life how taste can differ so much. I mean, we can hear the same song, and it'll make you "flip" over it, while it may "do nothing" for me...

If I analyse "Gimme More" for example - I can't really explain why I like it so much... it doesn't have an obvious or strong melody like I like in songs... yet I LOVE IT!! At the moment I feel it's the catchiest song I've heard in ages!

My goodness, that kid on the left certainly knows how to harmonise!
Regarding Britney's performance at the MV Awards... Kylie is almost 15 years older, and can do the same thing so much better!
Oh *ding*, and Friday is the great day when Kylie's new single "2 Hearts" debuts on radio!

Haven't heard the new Brit Song yet , but I have to admit - ever since she's shaved her hair off , I like her about as much as I love Sinead O connor - which is not a lot...

Quote Pet Shop Boy !: "...I like her about as much as I love Sinead O connor - which is not a lot"

At first I was like w00t!? And then the LOL-ing at your comment literally set in - and I still can't stop laughing!
If EVER, PSB-dear, there is a LEGEND walking this earth, her name is Sinead!

Speaking of which... SANDRA's next single - the ballad 'You Put Your Arms Around Me' - is written by Sinead herself... and it's beautiful!

I found this amusing:

"Bible drawn into publication controversy

More than 800 Hong Kong residents have called on authorities to reclassify the Bible as "indecent" due to its sexual and violent content, following an uproar over a sex column in a university student journal. A spokesperson for Hong Kong's Television and Entertainment Licensing authority (TELA) said it had received 838 complaints about the Bible by noon Wednesday. The complaints follow the launch of an anonymous Web site -- www.truthbible.net -- which said the holy book "made one tremble" given its sexual and violent content, including rape and incest. The Web site said the Bible's sexual content "far exceeds" that of a recent sex column published in the Chinese University's "Student Press" magazine, which had asked readers whether they'd ever fantasized about incest or bestiality.

That column was later deemed "indecent" by the Obscene Articles Tribunal, sparking a storm of debate about social morality and freedom of speech. Student editors of the journal defended it, saying open sexual debate was a basic right. If the Bible is similarly classified as "indecent" by authorities, only those over 18 could buy the holy book and it would need to be sealed in a wrapper with a statutory warning notice."

I THOUGHT I was too young to be read those horror stories as a child!

The irony is... (even though it probably won't happen) if they DID put those "restrictions" on the availability of the Bible, it would probably only make more people interested in it... make more people curious about it... maybe it would be a good "marketing tool"!

Rather Interesting ....Nothing in this world surprises me anymore.

By the by....anyone seen the new season 6 of "24" ? - It's brilliant ......... you don't have to be over 18 to buy it , and it's not sealed in a wrapper with a warning notice on it....

A truly gifted singer that many may have forgotten about... remember 'The Lost Opera', and KIMERA? The Korean singer's opera-meets-pop/dance topped international charts about two decades ago, and followed it up with some more brilliant albums of pushing trends...

We were delighted to find more of her music on her site: www.kimeraweb.com, and even more delighted when I received an e-mail from Kimera herself:

(This was my letter to her):

"Hi Kimera,

Thanks a lot - it's been really a pleasure finding out where I could get some of your music. You're truly a gifted singer, and you make wonderful music!

As a longtime fan, I wasn't aware that you'd released anything past the third album 'Marching Forever', so I was pleasantly surprised to learn you had done plenty more projects.

If you don't mind, could I possibly ask for some information?

Could you tell me the year each of your albums was released?

e.g. Lost Opera - 198?
Opera Express - 198? etc.

If it's not too much trouble, I'd really appreciate it!

Also, I have a question: where did 'Lost Opera' chart in the UK? Did it reach #1?

Thanks and best regards,

Rohan"

(And this her response):

"Dear Rohan,

Thanks for your interest and compliments.

Here are the approximate dates of some of my releases.

Lost Opera 1984
Opera Express 1985
Marching For Ever 1986
Spanish House 1988
Kimera Chante Noel 1989
Classic All Star 1993
The rest between 1992/1995

Now I am preparing some new projects after a long absence.

We were high up on the Charts, but could not promote as our continental schedule did not permit.

Hope that this will help you in your positioning of my trajectory.

With Love,
Kimera"
