Really excited about the brand new PRINCE album to be "officially" released this coming Monday (23rd)!
I already have my hands on a copy of course (a UK friend sent me one of the FREE copies that were - controversially - given away there with a Sunday newspaper)... and ... WOW!
Even better than last year's '3121' which I thought was his best album in many years... 'Planet Earth' sees Prince at his funky/jazzy/rocking best!
His record company in the UK of course (understandably) were quite unhappy about his move to have the album distributed for free a week before its release date, and have subsequently stated it's not going to be stocked in stores any more.
I read when asked Prince said he doesn't care about the sales or the charts anymore... he just cares about getting the music in the hands and to the ears of the people who want to hear it...
This made me think today - this was maybe a brilliant move on his part... his album may not see the charts or have a lot of "sales", but it will be in the hands of many people who might otherwise not have had it... Smart? I think so!
