James Blunt's hit You're Beautiful has been voted the most irritating song of all time in a web poll.
The single had a five-week run in Britain and it was number one in 11 other countries when it was released in 2005.
It shot the ex-military man to worldwide stardom across the globe, bagging him a Grammy nomination and a Brit Award.
Crazy Frog by Axel came second in the poll, followed by Mmp Bop - a hit for brotherly rock group Hanson in 1997.
John Sewell, of market researchers onepoll.com, said: "James Blunt isn't the obvious choice, but any song that is at number one for so long does start to get annoying."
The most recent song in the poll was Grace Kelly by Mika, while the oldest was Lulu's 1994 smash Shout.

"You're Beautiful" and "Mmm-Bop" should not even be on that list - but there ARE a quite a few recent HIP-HOP songs that should have featured! Then again, these songs were voted for by today's youth, who believes music came with the Spice Girls and Eminem.

With that, I give you MY personal five most irritating songs of all-time: (Note: These are songs that I find IRRITATING; not the abhorrent ones that I refuse to play EVER, and NEVER should have seen the light of day! "Another F^&*% Day In Paradise" anyone!?

1. 20 Fingers - Lick It (This is just VILEST thing ever!)
2. Crazy Frog - Axel F
3. Bobby McFerrin - Don't Worry, Be Happy
4. 50 Cent - Candy Shop
5. DJ Casper - Cha Cha Slide

Now, this list could go on and on and on and on...

Mmm... I agree that 'You're Beautiful' and 'Mmm-bop' don't belong on that list... (even though I'm tired of YB and feel I've heard it way too many times).
My list would be mostly from hip-hop/r&b... because certain "way-overrated" songs from those genres have been way-overplayed!
50 Cent's 'Candy shop', Usher's 'Yeah' (actually a good song, but... did we need to hear it so much?!), Beyonce... 'Crazy in love', 'De'ja'vu', 'Lose my breath', (the list goes on!) and: Mariah's 'It's like that', J-Lo's 'Get right', and most of all: anything by Fatman Scoop (the shouting, the screaming, the bad lyrics--- please save me from this!! )
Think I feel a little better now...

"Nice.... Quite a handsome fella as well !"

Oops PSB, I lost you there a bit... Who do you fancy then, Enrique or his dad?

BTW, an interesting fact about Julio, which not many fans are aware of, is that he also (like Abba & Celine Dion) made his international musical debut at Eurovision. The only difference is, unlike Abba and Celine, he didn't win the Contest. He ended 4th in 1970 for Spain with the song "Gwendolyne".

OK then.

I fancy Enrique as well (he can easily "come under my umbrella-la"); but it has to be mentioned that I am QUITE the Julio-fan... and have been for years (and no, I'm also not that old either).

Julio's 1999-version of "Un Canto A Galicia" (his first international hit in 1970) still gives me goosebumps to this day - it's such a MAGNIFICENT piece of music!

Here's the video for the original 1970-rendering. It's rather fabulous, and he WAS a 'hottie'! Such a pity he never made a video for the ballad-version he did in 1999!

Watched both the Julio videos and quite enjoyed him (I mean them - lol!)
He's really a talented singer (and was quite goodlooking when he was younger), those songs are quite moving.
I can understand why he's become the "legend" he is today. Enrique may be the "best selling Spanish artist today" (as I've read), but I think he has a LONG way to go before he can match what he's father's achieved. And amazing that Julio achieved this while most of his recordings have been in Spanish, right?
(He only ever had one "chart entry" on Blue-Box btw - 1988's 'My Love' with Stevie Wonder which became a Top 10 hit).

Saw this report in UK's Launch:

Dame Shirley Bassey has backed soul star AMY WINEHOUSE to sing the next James Bond theme tune.

Bassey has sung the title song for a record three James Bond movies - Goldfinger, Diamonds Are Forever and Moonraker - and is urging the film bosses to hire the Rehab hitmaker for the next spy-franchise installment.

The 70-year-old says, "There aren't many female artists of her generation with such an unusual sound. I can't think of anybody better to sing the Bond theme tune."

I agree - what an AWESOME idea!

Oh dear! Miss Winehouse just HAS to wait. It's Robbie's turn next - I mean, he was kinda promised the Bond 21 theme, until it was given to some 'brown-noser' who was just "in too deep" (literally , if the press is to be believed) with the film director. Don't get me wrong, I like Amy Winehouse just fine, but she has to wait her turn!

Something I do find interesting tho', is that Dame Shirley (now THERE's a 'has-been') has apparently fallen on "hard times", hence her sudden frequent public appearances (including Glastonbury last weekend) and the release of her next single to be called "Let's Get This Party Started". Yes, the old hag covers THAT one, she must be desperate for a bit of cash!

More interesting news about Dame Shirley Bassey - Read this :

Bassey cheats death in helicopter scare
(Monday June 25, 2007 08:00 AM)

Singer Dame Shirley Bassey narrowly escaped death last night when the helicopter carrying her home from the Glastonbury Festival was forced to make a terrifying emergency landing in high winds.

The chopper carrying the veteran back to London from the event in the south west of England suffered a suspected mechanical failure and almost hit treetops and telephone cables as it was buffered by heavy rain and strong winds.

Witnesses have told British newspaper the Daily Mirror they heard a strange "mechanical clunking" noise before the pilot made an emergency landing at a college in Surrey.

The pilot said after landing, "That was terrifying. I was losing power and the mist was so thick I couldn't see where I was going. I've got a special passenger. We had an almighty let off. Thank God."

The shaken star, 70, said after climbing out of the helicopter, "Thank God. What a horrid ordeal. I'm so glad we somehow made it down safe," before asking locals who had gathered at the scene, "So sorry to have bothered you. May I please use someone's toilet? And a cup of tea would go down a treat."

I'm Just glad she made it......

I'd have to agree with that then... as much as I think Winehouse would be ideal for a Bond theme, Robbie should do one first! (And however Cornell got his, his WAS fabulous, wasn't it? He really does 'rock' well, too bad his new album is so 'soft'... )

Received this touching e-mail from RIGHT SAID FRED... (subscribed to their newsletter)

Hi Rohan,

THE MOSCOW INCIDENT (28-05-2007)

As we know alot of you have seen us on the news and in the press being beaten and attacked by Neo-Nazis in Moscow. We thought we should write a few lines to add our perspective to these bizarre events.

We flew into Moscow on Saturday May 26th for a show that evening. After we had checked into our hotel Richard and i had dinner and people watched in Red Square while the sun slowly set.We were amazed by how many gay couples we saw holding hands and openly expressing their sexuality.Wow we thought "Moscow's changed"..........................

The following morning we had arranged to have lunch with the local promoter, his wife and their 7 year old daughter. We were going to have lunch in Red Square but it was closed due to a demonstration. There were a large amount of Police and soldiers on the street but this is Russia so we thought nothing of it.At this point the promoter received a phone call from friends of his who were at a "Civil Liberties/Freedom of speech" rally and they invited us down.Richard and i weren't aware this was a Gay Pride demo and that it had been denied a licence by the Moscow authorities. We aren't big on public rallies particularly illegal ones and prefer to show our support for "sexual tolerance" etc etc in other ways. However we were assured that it seemed safe and the main purpose of this demo was to hand in a petition to the Mayor and that Tatu (a popular Russian girl group) were also performing so we felt ok about going along.

When we arrived it was a very small affair with a massive police presence and alot of international press, the Neo-Nazis were singing and doing interviews. The moment Richard and i left our vehicle the international press recognised us and immediately all the attention went from the Neo-Nazis to us.......oh joy!

We started to do some interviews but were very uncomfortable and could feel the tension rising, at this stage there was just alot of shouting and pushing. Richard and i tried to move away but the police wouldn't let us, in a heartbeat a guy had pushed through the wall of press and punched Richard in the face, as we both tried to move away again the Police pushed us back into the fray. Richard was struck 3 or 4 more times in the face, i was kicked and punched in the body, a policeman at one point actually restrained me while i was being hit.The guy hitting Richard had a crucifix in his left hand and was punching with his right.......Now there's an image!!! to It soon dawned on us that we were on our own so i grabbed Richard's arm and shouted "we're getting the f**k out of here" we pushed through the police line and the just legged it for all we're worth. What followed was like a scene from a Benny Hill sketch. We were being chased by the Neo-Nazis who were being chased by the press who were being chased(i use the term loosely) by the Police. Luckily we're quite fit but after a few blocks they caught us and we were attacked again, this time there were 2 policeman having a tea-break who were sympathetic to our situation and got involved, they arrested one of the attackers and protected us until our vehicle and promoter found us.

We found sanctuary in a very quiet restaurant where we attended to our wounds drunk some wine and tried to get our heads round what had just happened.

Although this was a very scary ordeal it's important to for us to say that on previous trips we have been lucky enough to meet alot of friendly, funny and compassionate people in Moscow and Russia.

We'd like to thank you all for the thousands of good will messages,we really appreciate your concern.Richard's been very sore for a couple of days but his cuts and bruises and mine are healing fast, alot faster than the deeper and more worrying wounds that fester inside the heads of those who attacked us and of those who were happy to watch and let it happen.

Love and Peace

RSF XX
