Jackson Hits Studio With will.i.am For New Album...
Michael Jackson and Black Eyed Peas producer/rapper will.i.am have begun collaborating on new material for Jackson's as-yet-untitled album, due late next year via the Bahrain-based Two Seas Records.
The pair recently entered a studio in Ireland. "I like what he is doing and thought it would be interesting to collaborate or just see how the chemistry worked," Jackson told Access Hollywood in an interview airing this week. "I think he's doing wonderful, innovative, positive, great music."
The new offering will be the pop star's first release since 2001's "Invincible". But Jackson, who currently resides in Bahrain, says he has still been writing in the interim. "I am always writing a potpourri of music," he says. "I want to give the world escapism through the wonder of great music and to reach the masses."
Next month, Jackson will make a rare appearance at the World Music Awards in London to receive the Diamond Award, for selling more than 100 million albums. Previous recipients include Rod Stewart, Mariah Carey, Bon Jovi and Celine Dion.

Oh dear... Jackson was expected to make a 'spectacular comeback' performing 'Thriller' at the World Music Awards, but... (papers report):
"Jackson Comeback Performance Deemed A Flop"
"British media seized on Michael Jackson and the organizers of an awards ceremony where he appeared Nov. 15, calling his first public performance since his child molestation trial last year "shambolic."
Far from the full rendition of mega-hit "Thriller" the world's media had been led to expect at the World Music Awards in London, Jackson instead sang the chorus line of his charity single "We Are the World" with a choir of children. When he reached for the higher notes he appeared to struggle, and mid-song the sound was inexplicably cut.
U.S. star Chris Brown sang "Thriller" instead, even wearing the familiar red leather jacket of the original video, but he failed to placate a crowd who had not come to see a stand-in.
"Jackson the flop" was the Daily Mail's headline in its online version today, describing what many had hoped would be a triumphant comeback. The review, which accused Jackson of not trying, added: "It was enough to make you cry. And not in a good way.
The story called the event an "embarrassing comeback" and focused on those in the crowd who booed at seeing Jackson sing just four lines of music."
Oh dear...
