So it's all over... and a big congratulations to Italy! Taking the World Cup honours for 2006 after their extra-time 5-3 win over France.

Those of us lucky enough to have experienced a World Cup victory, know that it's simply one of the most indescribable feelings in the world!

One of the most exciting new finds in music of the past year... ARASH!

His talent has finally become fully recognized on the Blue Islands as his debut album "Arash" climbed to #1 this past week. He first reached the Blue-Box Top 10 last year with "Boro Boro", and followed it up with one of the biggest hits of the year with his chart-topper "Temptation". He's now currently in the Top 10 with his latest - "Arash" (which seems set to crack the Top 5 in the coming week...)

So who is he? Arash Labaf is an Iranian singer (born in Iran in 1977 and moved to Sweden when he was 10) who sings mostly in the Persian language, and creates a stylish "eastern sounding" kind of dance music (think Tarkan's "Simarik" - a style not too dissimilar).
His dance style is a more latin-tinged kind of salsa-techno sound, that he mixes with modern dance sounds. You've never danced to dance music this delicious!

Speaking of Tarkan... I've just discovered he released his long-awaited first English single last year in Turkey - "Bounce", and is releasing his first English-language album - "Come Closer" - in April 2006!

(for those not familiar - he had an international hit with "Simarik" a few years ago in the Turkish language - that Holly Vallance did a cover version of... Kiss Kiss?)

TWO-SPIRITED PEOPLE

(Came across this article which I found interesting:)
Before European contact, Native peoples (referring to native Indians) recognized three genders -- male, female and two-spirited. Two-spirited people (today referred to as "gay")were believed to have received the creator's gift of both male and female spirits in their bodies. They were respected, and thought to be able to see the world from two perspectives. Two-spirited people often had roles as leaders, mediators, artists and spiritual guides. After near-eradication by Europeans' Christian values, two-spirited people are starting to emerge in their communities once again.

Kind of sticking with the 'topic' here:
Today is of course the day when 17 international cities will host their annual "Gay Pride" marches. In the "March on Houston" more than 50 000 gays and lesbians are expected to take part alone. SO wish I could have been there!

And incredible...! An estimated 2.4 million people took to the streets of Sao Paulo to celebrate the Brazilian city's 10th annual Gay Pride parade, the Associated Press reported.

The record attendance -- the largest in the world, according to organizers -- topped last year's official crowd count of 1.8 million, and was a far cry from the 2,000 people who took part when Sao Paulo's first Pride was held a decade ago.

Wow - now that's a lot of people!

An album I've been listening to a lot lately that I just HAVE to mention, 'cause it's so BRILLIANT!

Faithless' recent 'Greatest Hits' album... really showcases a very special and rare talent...

From infectious DANCE CLASSICS like 'Insomnia', 'We Come 1', 'God Is A DJ' and the INCREDIBLE 'Salva Mea'... ...to the other experimental "non-dance" songs like 'Don't Leave', 'Reverence' and 'Mass Destruction'... this album is a grower, but also one that stands out from the rest as something really special and unique...

Interesting thought in PSB's 'I'm With Stupid'... "is stupid really stupid, or just a different kind of smart"?

Interesting observation about Boy Bands and the likes of Ronan repeating themselves with the same style and cover versions over and over.... But isn't this just a fact of life? That everything we do everyday is just a repeat of yesterday? and if it seems to work for us - why change it ? Isn't England or any world country for that matter known for repeating mistakes or successes , of the past, and is this not the case with every human on earth? Wasn't every next episode of the a-team excactly the same as the previous , but still we stayed glued to our television sets every week to see the next installment of Hannibol , face , murdock and B.A. ? Just a thought ! and by the looks of that album cover of Ronan, - maybe he was one of the surviviors of Titanic, so give the guy a break! maybe repeating one self is just an easy way to survive or a way of making money, through a proven method that seems to work and seems to be likeable ! Maybe the "art of copying" is just a different kind of smart!

I think the exception on the rule of "repeating" one self is Madonna ! Let's crown her the Queen of "reinventing one self "
