MARIAH’s SWEET 16th #1 – SHARES PANTHEON WITH THE BEATLES & ELVIS PRESLEY

Performer and songwriter Mariah Carey secures her place as the #1 most successful female artist of all time as "We Belong Together" becomes her 16th song to top the Billboard Hot 100. This positions Mariah as the only artist in contention to surpass the Beatles (with 20 #1’s) and Elvis Presley (18 #1’s) in the modern era.

Madonna's Kylie message

Madonna has sent a goodwill message to Kylie Minogue.

In a statement posted on Madonna.com on Wednesday [May 18] she said: "I was saddened to learn about Kylie Minogue's breast cancer diagnosis."

"I'm so grateful that they found it early. (Yet another reminder for all women to have annual mammograms.)"

The superstar's own mother, also called Madonna, died from breast cancer at the age of thirty when her daughter was only five years old.

The statement continued: "Aside from being tremendously talented, Kylie's a fighter and I know this is a battle she will win."

"Let's all pray for her speedy recovery and send all of our best wishes her way. With love and light to you, Kylie... Madonna."

Madonna wore a specially customised t-shirt with Minogue's name on it at the MTV Europe Music Awards in November 2000.

I was rather shocked when I came home tonight, turned on the TV, and heard the most horrible news about Kylie on CNN. We can only hope for the best!

Here's the Reuters report:

May 17, 2005 — SYDNEY (Reuters) - Kylie Minogue, Australia's biggest music star, has been diagnosed with breast cancer and has canceled her upcoming Australian tour, her management said today.

Minogue, 36, who was due to start her Australian concerts this week, said she was really sorry to disappoint her fans.

"Nevertheless, hopefully all will work out fine and I'll be back with you all again soon," Minogue said in a statement.

The Frontier Touring Company, the promoter of her Australian concert tour, said Minogue was diagnosed with "breast cancer" whilst visiting family in Melbourne yesterday.

"She will undergo immediate treatment and consequently her Australian tour will not be able to proceed as planned," the company said in a statement.

Minogue has risen from humble beginnings as an actress on the television soap "Neighbors" to be a top pop singer. She is signed to music company EMI.

HI EVERYONE! I'm back! One SUPER trip of sunny South Africa later, and of course a few exciting things happening on the music scene!

For a short overview, in SA I went on a "cross-country" trip with a couple of friends - in a friend's Peugeot - visiting Graskop/Mpumalanga (BEAUTIFUL!!), Kruger National Park, The Lost City, Golden Gate, Oudtshoorn, Knysna, Cape Town, Stellenbosch and of course Johannesburg and Potchefstroom (my home town) - doing 7000 km in just over a week (driving!)
In the Peugeot, we did Cher, ABBA, Shania, Anastacia, Laura Branigan, Green Day, Scissor Sisters, Modern Talking, Scooter, Shakin' Stevens, Enrique Iglesias, Gigi D'Agostino and... more and more Cher...! ("If I Could Turn Back Time...!")

Anyway, you get the picture!

So things at the Blue-Box HQ are in full swing again, so check back soon!
