RIP Bonnie Tyler....

We're very sad to hear this news, but will also take this time to celebrate her - she's left us with so many unforgettable musical gems.... Except for her most famous global hit - 'Total Eclipse Of The Heart', here on the 'Islands it's especially the epic 'Holding Out For A Hero' that still gets the most traction!

Other highlights we'll remember her for: 'If You Were A Woman (And I Was A Man)', 'Bitterblue', 'Islands' (with Mike Oldfield), 'A Rockin' Good Way' (with Shakin' Stevens), and the early classics 'Lost In France' and 'It's A Heartache' (to name but a few!)

She'll be missed, but not forgotten!

Man, this is so wonderful! This year is ROXETTE's 40th anniversary.... and a brand new animated video of their debut single - 'Neverending Love' from 1986 - has just been released. (The single first charted on the Blue Islands in 1995, at #6.)

This will be an interesting one. Two important and pretty great albums have been released this week: 'Night Is Calling' by German rock band DOMINUM, and 'Confessions II' by MADONNA. 'Night is Calling' is the German band's third, and their first two were both huuuge #1's here (with their debut 'Hey Living People' crowned Album of the Year in 2024). The new album sees them continue that high standard with style! (And how awesome is that cover?! ) Nothing needs to be said about Madonna of course.... And while her last studio effort 'Madame X' could only get to our #9 back in 2019.... there's some real hype surrounding the new album.... And though we weren't too taken with its lead singles, the album really is an impressive statement that is garnering high praise! Nothing like some healthy competition, right? Now fortunately we still have a few days to sit with this and let 'em sink in.... till all will be revealed come Thursday!

BRYAN ADAMS is such a cool guy. And his new song is also one of his better ones in a while (imo, just too short!? ) Fittingly released on Canada Day, this is '51st State'!

And.... speaking of an impressive number of years on this planet, YELLO's members are 81 and 74.... and they've also just released their latest song - 'Around The Sun'! Boris from the group explained that the vocals for this were actually plucked from a 1981 recording that they rediscovered, and that they've created an entire new song around it. And apparently the video footage is from around 1985.
