Yawn! Beyonce's "Baby Boy" #1 in the US for a NINTH week...!
Also, it's BAD enough - I guess that would explain how the new Alicia Keys could make the Top 20 this week... Double Yawn!

Interestingly and unexpectedly though, Tina Arena's "Never (Past Tense)" re-enters at #97...

True. At least we can look forward to Mis-Teeq on the US Charts soon. Scandalous is out on December 2 (featuring Redman & Ludacris on "additional" vocals off course).

Finally! Mis-Teeq SHOULD do well on the US charts... whether they WILL is another question!

Just heard the "new" version of "Scandalous" which features Redman & Ludacris... and it's HORRENDOUS!! They totally KILLED the original song!! Sounds so American now, but it lost the original Mis-Teeq magic... SUCH A SHAME...!

Wow - TIGHT competition it seems between Will Young (a very fine tune) and Shane Richie (with a cover of the Wham! classic "I'm Your Man") - I guess any one of them can still win!

It's injustice that No Doubt don't make a higher chart appearance... (and immediately Jewel and Seal amongst others come to mind!)

At least Westlife is off #1... (not so lucky on the album charts though...!)
Glad for Alex Parks!
Quite WEIRD for Enrique so low..., and we are in TEARS over the Pet Shop Boys entry...!!

Interesting that Britney can still shift so many copies in the US...! Glad for her!

Indeed, it does!
Would like to hear from the other board members - What was your Number 1 a year go? Here at Ultra-Pop it was:

One Year Ago: Julia Fordham - Wake Up With You (3rd Week)
Five Years Ago: Deetah feat. Dire Straits - Relax [Why Worry] (1st Week)
10 Years Ago: East 17 - Stay Another Day (2nd. Week).

The #1 a year ago on Blue-Box was "Die Another Day" by Madonna... for a second non-consecutive week. It debuted at #1 two weeks earlier, dropped to 2 when Shania's comeback-single "I'm Gonna Getcha Good" replaced it at 1, and in this week moved back up to No. 1... (just to be replaced the following week AGAIN by the Shania single!)

...and elsewhere on the same charts...

Ronan Keating's brand new single "Lost For Words" drops down from a low #9 last week to #31 this week... an uncharacteristically quick drop for him... especially for a first single from an album!

Kelly Clarkson (American Idol)'s 2nd single "Low / The Trouble With Love Is" only makes #35 - I guess that's "tickets" for her in the UK then...

And Phil Collins' new single "Look Through My Eyes" from the new Disney animated movie "Brother Bear" only debuts at #61... though admittedly not as good as "Can't Stop Loving You", this could well be his LAST single ever in the UK? (fight the tears Popmaster...!)

Another report...

On the UK album charts this week:

1. #1's - Michael Jackson (despite new child mosestation allegations he still proves he's the king of pop!)
2. A Present For Everyone - Busted (who HAVEN'T outsold MJ yet...!)
3. Life For Rent - Dido (overrated star of the year?!)
4. Greatest Hits - Red Hot Chili Peppers
5. In Time - Best Of - R.E.M.
6. Body Language - Kylie Minogue (VERY low... what does this mean - time for ANOTHER comeback?)
7. Let It Be-Naked - Beatles

14. In The Zone - Britney Spears (oh dear! Is this the beginning of the end for Britney? All depending on how this album does in the US... we predict next up for her will be her greatest hits...)

21. Turn It On - Ronan Keating (after his two previous solo albums made #1, this is quite a SHOCK! Time to form Boyzone again, we guess...!)

37. Now Or Never - Blazin' Squad (guess it's "never" for this band which the inhabitants of the Blue Islands never quite took to...)

38. Cliff At Christmas - Cliff Richard (just a Christmas album, so doesn't mean too much, but we guess this probably means his forthcoming Christmas single won't make #1...!)

Phew! Well, that's a wrap from me for this week's UK charts...!

There is certainly "POP" justice in the UK this week - apart from Kevin Lyttle & Fatman Scoop who's STILL around in the Top 10 somewhere hurting our ears. Next week we should hopefully see our Will replacing Westlife at Number 1.
And, Kylie made a very low Number 6 on the Album charts - outsold by even RHCP (!?), which is even more "POP" than Body Language (justice again!).
I'm off to the merry-go-round now (early Monday morning & yet another day for me in paradise) to mourn Phil Collins departing music (or, was it?). If only he had taken my advice, back in 1983, when I told him to take on a street sweeping job in Siberia, that was available at that time.
(BTW, just listened to the new Mis-Teeq single again, and can't hear the West End Girls "hook & bassline" that James Masterton is on aout in his Chart Commentary this week.)
Finally, keep an eye on the mailbox - the new Christina Almighty is fabby, fabby, fabby!

Yup - the "Almighty" Remix of the Christina song is truly great! (The "Almighty" Team of Remixers really know how to make great remixes!) It makes a great song sound even greater!

Me again!

Thought I'd just comment on how EYE feel aout this week's UK singles chart...

It's SO SAD that "Mandy" makes #1 this week... in fact, it's tragic! This becomes Westlife's 12th #1 in the UK - only Elvis, The Beatles and Cliff Richard have had more.

The Girls Aloud "Jump" at 2 is GREAT! Very catchy - try resisting getting up and dancing when you hear this!

We at Blue-Box are DELIGHTED at the Top 10 placing for Pet Shop Boys! They really deserve it, and what a great way of launching their latest greatest hits album with a new Top 10 single!
(Earlier this year Erasure reached the Top 10 again with "Solsbury Hill" - a cover version, something they can't manage anymore with their own material - whilst PSB still make great original music - proving with this they have truly outlasted Erasure as one of the 80's electronic survivors... only still Depeche Mode out there - whose musical merit has been in question for quite a few years now!)

#11 is too low for Enrique, and it's sad he can't at least make the Top 10 with the first single off his new album.
(Would be interesting to see how the performance of Ricky's comeback English project will compare to this early next year!)

Already the FIFTH single for Shania - so it's not too strange that it gets a lower chart position... though of course it deserves higher!

I think there was a mistake... the ACTUAL UK charts this week SHOULD look like this:

1. Miracles - Pet Shop Boys
2. Jump - Girls Aloud (popjustice!)
3. Addicted - Enrique Iglesias
4. When You Kiss Me / Up! - Shania Twain
5. Me Against The Music - Britney feat. Madonna
6. Maybe That's What It Takes - Alex Parks
7. Style - Mis-Teeq
8. Hey Ya - Outkast
9. Slow - Kylie Minogue
10. Crashed The Wedding - Busted
11. The Hardest Button To Button - White Stripes
12. Mandy - Westlife
13. 50:50/Lullaby - Lemar

(Now THAT would be popJUSTICE!)

While a-ha were finishing their current tour in Trondheim- Russia, they were given a hail from their own country of Norway...

Article in www.a-ha.com reads:

Robbie Williams pays tribute to a-ha! (2003-11-16)
During his first show in Oslo this year, Robbie Williams joined ranks with other music-biz heavy-weights such as Coldplay and U2 in praising a-ha's music. From the stage at Valhall he expressed his admiration eloquently; "a-ha...they're f***ing great!", and proceeded to play an acoustic version of The Sun Always Shines on TV with the audience singing along.
